Art Journal – where do I start?

Art Journal is a way of being creative and working with techniques, colours and testing ideas.  A lot of crafters do this for them selves. If you want to try out new things or ideas, or just because you use it as a diary or to draw or write down feelings. In this article, you will get some inspiration on Art Journal.

Things you need to start with Art Journal:

You need a book or a journal.
You can find several types of journals in different sizes. Dylusions  has got journals with different kind of paper in. These are fun to work with. You can also use an old book, and paint the pages with gesso before you start decorating the pages.

You can also make your own books, with left over paper. You may want to use Bind it all to bind the pages, or sew the pages together. Here is an example on how to make your own journal:

Colours
You need some sprays, paint or crayons for the backgrounds. You also need gesso as a base coat for the pages. It’s also useful with crayons, pens or colouring pencils to draw and write on the pages.

Stencils
If you do have stencils, use these to create patterns on the background. If you don’t have stencils, you can use die cuts or simply diecut in plastic to make your own stencils.

Glue
Glue is something that is very important for most paper artist. However, for Art Journal, you don’t need to be so critical about what kind of glue you are using.
