Today’s Card

Triangular cards… are not ones that I have ever made. But you know what?…I actually enjoyed making this one! I was inspired by card folds I saw on Pinterest and decided to try one that can stand on its own. The idea behind the card is ….the three sides of life – the past, present and future… December 2023 will soon be in the past, January is in the immediate future and year 2024 will soon be the present.

How to make a triangular card?

Front Base of the Triangular card

I used very simple measurements. First I folded white letter size card stock in half at 5 1/2 in. Next I cut the long edge of the paper also at 5 1/2 in and measured the apex of the triangle at 2 3/4 in. Then I cut diagonally on the fold at the top……..just before and after the 2 3/4 in mark and that created the two sides of the triangular shape . To help the card stand on its own, I supported it with paper using mountain and valley fold techniques.

Decorating the Triangular Fold

To decorate I looked for an image that complimented the shape of the card.  I selected a 3 tier display stand of macarons configured in a triangular shape. Before adhering the image, I inked the area with Peachy Keen Dye Ink by Altenew.

Adding more embellishments

The back face of the Triangular Card

To finish the card, I added a beautiful flower at the top of the card. A strip of green and white dots at the bottom sweetly compliments the paper covering the second triangle at the back. The greetings….. are from The Paper Boutique’s Seaside Fun Paper Kit as the background colours of the greetings  blend really well with the main image…(the macarons).

The Finished Card

Now that everything is stuck together …I am sure anyone would love receiving this card. Hope you enjoyed today’s project and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year…
