Shaped cards are another great way to shake up your hand crafting projects. They are often fun to create and fun to receive. They come in all shapes and sizes…usually created with the use of steel dies. Some dies come in simple shapes like squares or circles. There are nesting dies, edge’able dies, frames ..you name it they are out there. Currently I do not have any dies with me so I decided to create a shape, myself.
Types of Shaped Cards
Rectangular shaped cards are the most popular ones. However some cards can be oval, circular, square, triangular. They can be unusual like in the shape of animals, things like footballs, handbags and in the case of my card a bottle.
DIY Bottle Shape Card
Sometimes card makers create special projects by drawing images or cutting out shapes using a pair of scissors. Today for my project, I drew a bottle freehand using lines drawn by pencil and ruler. After creating the shape, I erased all of my grid lines and I cut out the bottle shape.
Next I added some dimension by adding colour to the cork and bottle which was made of white card stock…I coloured them with metallic gold, black, warm grey and white colour pencils. Afterwards I added the label design and the bottle content. Lastly I attached the greeting “Happy Birthday” with blue and white bakers twine.
Adding an embellished look to my shaped card
For embellishment, I added pink stars all over the bottle with Crafter’s Companion, Tri-colour Metallic Markers and I added some gloss…(which unfortunately could not be seen in the lighting) with their Sparkle Brush Pen.
There you have it friends my DIY Bottle shaped card. Hope you enjoyed this week’s project and you can look forward to more fun projects here at Renee’s corner.
