Midweek Media: Book pages

Hello crafty people! Today I wanted to share another card I made with a recycled product, specifically a book page. I recently took home some discarded children’s books from my school’s library with the intention of using them when making cards.

To begin, I stamped a large floral image on a page from one of those books with a black pigment ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then used markers to color in the flowers, greenery and book cover. A gelato was was used to color the edges of the book pages. A gold and sparkly clear gel pen were used to to color the other parts of the books.

The white part of the pages were colored with a white colored pencil and then colored over with more of the sparkly clear gel pen. The outline of the flowers and the greenery were also colored with the clear sparkle pen and finally the center of the two flowers were colored in with the gold pen. I then fussy cut the image.

Then I moved on to the background of the card. I die cut a piece of watercolor paper with an A2-sized die cut and then watercolor smooshed the panel with the purple and red markers mixed with water. Then I added a little more color by mixing some of the yellow gelato with water and watercolor smooshed the panel a second time. After everything dried, I ink blended the edges of the the panel with a light pink pigment ink and then heat embossed the edges with clear embossing powder.

The floral image was glued onto the background panel. Green, orange, and purple sequins were glued onto the card.

A thank you sentiment was stamped onto a scrap of watercolor paper with more black pigment ink and then heat embossed it with more of the clear embossing powder. I then trimmed the sentiment strip and then blended the edges with more of the yellow embossing powder. Before attaching the sentiment to the card with some foam tape, I added a nest of gold thread behind the sentiment strip. Finally the card panel was glued onto an A2-sized white card base.
